Guide to Silent Hill Downpour

Okay, this is one of the most exciting achivements I'm looking forward to.
The achivements goes like this:
  Good Behavior 50
Completed the game on any difficulty without killing any monsters.

Meaning better flee that fight.

Reading this blogg vill most certainly spoil the story and game, so I suggest that you play the game through first.
I should not need say this, but this ach. is easier on easy than on hard

A few things you need to know about the game and achivements before we start is this:

  1. Do not worry about ending. You will unlock this achivement BEFORE you start playing as the bogeyman.
  2. There is only one boss in the game, the last one.
  3. You can still incapacitate the monster without killing them (i.e, kick them 'til there down spasing out, the run).
  4. Do NOT rely on the hobo tunnelsystem. Just saying.
  5. If you want a walktrough of side quest and similiar, this is the guide for you, since I will only be focusing on the monster encounters.
  6. With great power comes great damage output.  Be carefull when using shotguns.

Good behavior Part 1: Start-devil's pitstop

Do the prison walk. Obviously you need to kill the dude in the shower - not being a monster (which I would say is open for discussion) - to get along in the game.
 
Next is the buss crash, and you'll be making a choice to save or leave Marie. I choose to help her, due to the ending I want. Don't forget to pick up the flashlight, and just ignore the fact that there is a wheel chair on the roof.
 
OBS! First time I played this game I encountered a glitch with my quest "Change into new clothes". It didn't pop up. Just dumb luck and 4 hour frustration. But after you enctounter the mailman, that is your quest
 
Now, I wouldn't say you should defininetly get the gun after you survive the Silent hill or "otherworld" event, but the key is on the bottom floor on a desk/table, go up stairs, unlock the door, find the safe in the room to your left, in the same room as the dead dog, there is a safe in there. the code is 26381, in case I'm wrong, jus find the the chord to the coffe machine and turn it on (all of it is still upstairs) and watch the window for the code.
 
Now if you have the gun, I would only use it on other difficulties than easy.
 
Now, first find the wire inside the locked room, then the first enemy you encounter is a shrieker, I hit her 3 times and she falls, the run for the elevator at the end of the corridor next to the stairs, and turn left, plce the wire in the elevator and go up.
 
Find the clothes, if you want, you CAN take you prison jumpsuit back on. Then go to the fenced gate with the generator, followin the trail of the ticket machine, be prepared for a shrieker, incap. or trap her in a house, then turn on the generator, get in to the first door to your and get the ticket.
 
You are supoose to squeeze through between two houses, but before you do that, I recommend you picking up the racket leaning against a tree, thereby having a weapon you can block with, beacuse once you squezze through, three shriekers will appear. Two from far left efter the locked key, and one to the right of the concrete road. Run towards a "Devil's Arean Train" sign, up the stairs, into the doors and CLOSE THE DOOR s they cannot pursue you.
 
Then get on the trail cart, and now you are in devils pit.

Good Behavior Part 2: Devil's Pit-Silent HIll

As you station at the end of the trip, you go right, and down. When you open a door, you will hear static noise, don't worry, it is just the tv. Get the key and go straight up.
 
Meet JP, take the elevator down, and look out for a corpse being pulled away around the corner. You will meet two shriekers there, but you can easily outrun them, just keep going forward over the bridge, be ready for it will collapse.
 
You lost your lamp and you won't se shit. Fix the pumps. You''ll be hearing static noise on the radio after the second squezze through. You'll se the corpse, but it won't trigger until you get the loot  the end of the cave, medkit and pistol bullets. You can outrun her and squeeze right back. Now go fix the elevator and take it down.
 
You will face a shrieker after the elevator, I highly recommend you incap. her and then hurry to push the cart.  After you continue down the mine, and after you find the note about the train cart accident, you will face your first weeping bat (don't miss the medkit). I incap. him, having my pick axe to chop the boards to the ladder, running to the next elevator.
 
After the elevator you'll be meeting JP again, standing at the edge. I choose not too be to hard on him.
Afterwards, head to the gate, and keep walking the path, but beware, there are a great amount of weeping bats ahead. The first one is in the house with the TNT. Since these creautes fear light, he isn't that aggresive, just runs around alot. I suggest you run as fast as you can, and don't ever kid yourself, they are always right behind you. Luckeily, they can't walk through the door your supposed to enter. Make it to the elevator.
 
After the elevator, you find a corspe tied up in wire. On it, is a piece of paper, if you rememberd the puzzle last time, it is Red, Blue, Orange, which is the color on the buttons you're supposed to start the cart. Beware, you have a shrieker on your tale, incap her (or you can outrun to be sure) and hit the buttons, get in the train. Wave goodbye to the shrieker, and be prepared for a bumpy ride.

Good Behavior Part 3: Silent Hill town entrance-Radio station

As you enter the town, you just keep up walking. Strongly advise you find the map before going into town.
You will first meet a shrieker, outrun or incap, your choice, the pain in the ass will be when you first encounter the cop car. Trigger a car, then run as fast as you can to the station and call if the cars.
 
To make it simpel for you, I've written them down below:

While free roaming in silent hill, you can always outrun enemies.
You can just exit the building, and make it to the radiostation by the Centennial building.
This part can be tricky... and for god's sake don't forget the map at the entrance!
Now, pro-tip DO NOT OPEN THE S&S VAN.
Just pump the basement and be ready for alot of creeper in the parking lot when you get up. Just make it with your security card to the locked room, opening the iron gate, and get to the elevator.
 
After you bash the boards, a shrieker will appear, you can ignore her and just close the door behind you. Do not trouble yourself with the mannequin in a chair, she will attack you if you striket it. Ignor all other corridor, just take the ladder up so you ignore the Weeping bat in the celing.
 
A fake doll will appear just to scare you, but it will disappear a s soon its out of sight.
 Their is a safe ahead, and as usual I'm gonna make this a quick run for you so here is the code: 961 find the ID card in there and to shortcut even more Silent Hill: Downpour Office Envelopes Puzzle Solved

Now, best tip, outrun all the dolls and make it to the elevator, remove the wheel chair and use the ID card to go to the 18th floor.

Good Behaviour Part 4: Radio Staion-Monastery

Make it out of the tower.
The part where the cages are falling, you will meet two shriekers.. outrun them.
The clockpart is you should push the button aroun III (3).
Now make it to St. Maria's and as usual while freeroaming.. outrun everything
 
As you enter the monastery, you will be forced to find an axe, and the second you find it,  it will summon AT LEAST 8 dolls, just fly you fool! Escape the same way as you entered.
The map is just next to the boarded door. As of now, all enemies should be outrunned(outran?) and close the door behind them. Get the first pom fragment in the chapel, and go get ready for Hansel & Gretel. The cutscene where a shrieker goes Krueger on the wall, take the first right in there you will find a pole to pull down the ladder in the room at the far end of the hall.
Now, puzzle! Find the 2 part in the room to your left, a Vinyl and Lever

4. Pull the center lever set. 1

6. Make it rain (the machine nearest the window
7. THUUUUNDEEER!
 
Boom. Silent Hill Magic.
The non-killin at this part is.... tricky
If you played the game once, you have at least a little hitch of where your headed, make a run for it.
Otherwise, I'll walk you through it. I enctounter approx. two shriekers and one Weeping bat. the path goes slightly to the left, then i turns right.. DO NOT flee back from the monster, try to run past them, towards your goal, otherwise you may get lost and cornered by enemies.. In case you get cornered, no worries, you should at least have 10 medkits at this point
It's not a long forest, but you can't see shit.
 
Make it to the house AND CLOSE THE DOOR!
Finish the puzzle (it's not even remotley hard) and get poem fragment 2
Now beware of the dolls spawning behind you, just get through the door you came in. Go upstairs, and I know that every inch in your body doesn't wat to follow that girl.. but.... do it.
 
After she locks you out, find the blackboard eraser, and head for the class room before the gets. Beware the black room with the dollies, but just close them in.
After the flashback a door will open, go throught, and when you reach the chapel, be quick or be dead.
Go and hack open the door before the shriekers reach you. If you hesitate a second, the will make it up. In case they do, you MUST incap them or they will never let you live to open that door.
 
After you leave the kitchen door, a wall will rumble and a shrieker appears, trick past her and through the hole she came from, she won't be able to follow.
 
When you enter the x-ray room DO NOT search the boddies before you x-ay them, it will warp you to "Other World" and only escape are kill the monsters or load game. I took the bed that was furtesth away from the door, and that one was right. Now loot its guts. And make your way to the boy again
 
After you lock the door up on your way to the kid, a weeping bat is waitíng. I suggest you run for it.
 
Now, bogeyman fight. Throw everything you got towards him, this is a part where enemies easily get killed. Drop your main weapon, start throwing bricks and pipes towards him fast, before he opens cages, run around in circles avoid enemies and earthquakes, until he smash open a wall to the far right. Enemies will not pursue beyond the whole.
 
As you jump down to the stage level, you will encounter dolls here to your left after you trigger them by obtaining the blue candles, they will spawn behind you, you can try to trap them in the room, but watch out, there is one outside the room as well.
 
Lower the chandelier. A stabber will go down with it, i suggest you incap him, since he is by far the fastet enemy in the game, and he will hurt you. alot. So dont miss the medkit by the lever upstairs.
You can of course, as usual try to trap him which I did in case you don't want to risk it. Just remeber that you will have to pull the lever again to raise the candles.
 
Don't miss the combination of symbols that the candles lit up, it will help you after the stage.
Bogeyman battle doesn't count as a monster kill.
 
Exit the Monastery.

Good Behavior part 5: Monastery-Prison

After you leave the monastery, climb up the ladder, and take right to avoid the monsters under the bridge, you can go down a coulple of stairs just on the other side of the bridge. Now head north and further north till you get to the boat! Now if you want, you can get the shotgun that you can acquire in a easter egg van at the Rice st. turn. Personalli I would NOT use the shotgun, to much of a wildcard in my opinion.
 
 Flashback and all that stuff and you wakeup in the prison... and notice that you will lose all the 25 mekits you han been saving up to, just so you'll panic more often and start flailing around desperately, killing monster. Don't. No matter what horror you face, the greatest fear in this game är the loading time when you die, I know. But do the math? 1 hour of loading by diyng instead of killing, OR 6 hours of replaying the game?
 
Anywho, cross over, clim the ladder and don't forget the map to your left. Take the axe and medkit before you head downstairs. Now, to complete the puzzle, you need to know which numbers to use, and the answer is on your overall jumpsuit. Pick up the TWO items in their, the penny and the card. There is oot tin the cloak room.
 
Once you head down the stairs a Prison Minion will appear in front of you, turn left and run until you se a basket ball out of a room, make it to that room, and the Minion should closed out by the silent hill barbed wire.
 
Ladida, water n stuff. Once you head for the stairs you will encount a Juggernaught. Run past him, bash the lock to the door on the left, and squeeze through and be ready for  L-stick action. Once the J-N is out of the cell, make a run for it, time the cable death, and dodge to safety afterwards. Don't worry, if he gets killed på electricity, it doesn't count as your kill.
 
As you go through the security passage, be prepared for a cusecene with a J-N holding two Minions as dogs (awesome!), just make it to the first left and keep running, the will be forgotten. Now, there are 3 medkits before you should enter the keypad door. One on the other side of the boards, One in each workshop room. The code is 22345 on normal/hard and 2345 (advance shit, I konw) on easy. Just hurry up opening that door cause monster spawns constantly.
 
Now, as for the dayroom, head to the west wall/door and hit BOTH buttons that opens the door . Beware though, casue it won't open directly, so stall the enemies, run around in circles until the light above the door is not flickering red or green anymore, just green. Squeeze through and SAFE!
 
Head for the showers, dodge the juggernaught, and now... Lets prepare for the final part right?

God Behavior Final Part: Shower - Boss

Vent chase, done. Now.. this WILL be the worst part and the MOST likely chance to fail this achivement. The elevator ride. You'll be FORCED to incap the enemis before you can proceed to the next level. The elevator will only continue once a) all the doors are closed, and b) all monsters are incap.
 
A) All the doors opening are potential exits, which you MUST try to walk through in order for the elevator to work.
 
B) you MUST ONLY incap the monster while they are NOT on the elevator. Otherwise the coming levels will be a rape fest movie starring the monsters on your body.
 
As said before, you will die. But, if you have the 7ish medkits you could have taken, you might still have a chance :) If shit hit the fan (like the monster cornering you, block, and try to scatter them, incap. them on at the time. I Suggest you do this on spread location, running the risk to execute a closeby monster.
 
On the first level, I faced two shriekers coming from the middle door.
On the second level, I faced a Minion and two shriekers, and there is a controll room after the right door, loot it with haste, the lights will also malfunction during this level.
On the third level one skrieker from the left, and one from the right. Once they are down, a Stabby Minion nd s shrieker from the middle dor.
 
The next level the elevator will crash... if you made this.. son you should be proud of yourself
 
And from this point, the game if pretty forward. When you meet the boss,I suggest running from foes. Don't worry of the spitter rolling out, they don't count. Afterwards, when you start playing as the bogeyman.. you get you 50 g ;p
